Bilateral Trade between Australia and Sri Lanka.

On 5th November, 2019, H.E. David Holly, Australian High Commissioner, addressed a gathering of Businessmen at the National Chamber of Commerce for exchange of Bilateral information between Australia and Sri Lanka.  The discussion was well attended.

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and National Enterprise Development Authority concluded the “Western Province Entrepreneurship Awards ceremony 2019” in grand scale at Sri Lanka Foundation premises on 30 October 2019.  The Chairman of NEDA Dr. SirazMeerasahib graced the occasion as the Chief Guest among other dignitaries.


The Awards Competition was designed for Micro, Small, Medium and Large sector entrepreneurs in the fields of Industry/Manufacturing Sector, Agriculture/Livestock/Fisheries Sector and Hospitality/Tourism & other servicessector and awards were presented for best practices as namely ; Best Environmental Friendly Enterprise, Best Exporter, Best Productive Enterprise, Best Innovative Enterprise, Best Value Added Enterprise, Best Energy Efficiency Enterprise, Award for the Entrepreneur - Who has Provided Most Number of Jobs for Females, Award for the Best Woman Entrepreneur, Award for the Best Entrepreneur – Differently abled, presented to the best performance in 08 thematic areas.


“The Best Entrepreneur of the year 2019 – Western Province”is the most prestigious award of the event. It recognizes the most outstanding enterprise in the province in 2019 and it was awarded to Wijaya Products (Pvt) Ltd.


The event was graced by a large gathering of SME and large sector Entrepreneurs together with Government officials, top corporates representatives.   



An Agricultural Business Delegation from the Hadabima Authority of Sri Lanka visited Bangaldesh, in October 2019. Sri Lanka High Commissioner, H.E. Crisanthe De Silva in Bangladesh and his Team set up meetings with BIMSTEC and the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce, fulfilling the objectives of the Delegation.
