In continuation  with the on going  program by the National Chamber to uplift the SMEs in the Regions, the Chamber conducted  training programs  as follows:

One day Workshop on ”Export Procedures” with  special attention on enhanced market access under the new GSP+ concession

One day Workshop on ”Export Procedures” with  special attention on enhanced market access under the new GSP+ concession was conducted  on  15 March 2018  at the Chamber Auditorium.

There was a Special presentation by Dr. Lakmini Mendis, Deputy Director of Commerce,on EU aspects on the new GSP Plus concession, during the workshop.

The Workshop provided a perfect understanding of exports to get updated with the latest procedures and day to day work related to exports.

Workshop on “Import Procedures & Documentation

Full day workshop on Import Procedures with Special attention on WTO Goods Valuation Agreement, WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and Goods Classification & Harmonized System  was held on , 28 February 2018

The workshop focused on the areas on importing, buying and sourcing from overseas  production and practical information on importing.The Resource person was Mr. T Raviendrarajah,  Director of Customs.

A full day Workshop  on “HR –the Driving Force in an Organisation” was conducted on  13 March 2018 at the Chamber Auditorium. The Resource person was Mr. Meditha Karunatillaka,with over 23 years of experience in HR Management. Some of the topics discussed were Overview of HR functions, Role of  Head of HR ,motivation of staff and people’s first attitude. The program was well attended and beneficial for Members involved in the human resources sector..

“How to Make people want to work for you, and never leave…”

The National Chamber of Commerce  in collaboration with The HR Consortium (Pvt) Ltd held a half day Seminar on  “ How to make People Want to Work For you....”  on  18 January 2018 at the Chamber Auditorium.

The seminar focused on strategies that a Company can implement to make a transition from the  Traditional Workforce to a Knowledge-based workforce; as today it is a challenge to retain employees;  job seekers search for a work environment to adjust to their requirements, with  flexible schedules.
