The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka successfully concluded its one-day workshop titled “Global Commerce Roadmap: Navigating Import Procedures and Documentation” on Wednesday, 09 April 2025, at the National Chamber Auditorium, Colombo 10.

The program was well structured to benefit both newcomers and experienced professionals in the field of importation, attracted a wide audience including professionals from import/export companies, procurement officers, logistics personnel, and others involved in international trade. The workshop was conducted by an experienced resource person, Mr. T. Raviendrarajah, Former Director of Sri Lanka Customs, who brought in-depth knowledge and practical insights drawn from years of experience in the field.

Throughout the program, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of import procedures, international documentation, trade regulations, customs clearance processes, and global commerce best practices. Key focus areas included:

  • Import planning and compliance requirements
  • Customs procedures and HS Nomenclature (2022 Edition)
  • Sales contracts and Incoterms
  • International payment terms and trade agreements
  • Insights into the impact of Sri Lanka’s 2025 Budget on trade
  • View Procedures-Sri Lanka Trade Information Portal

The interactive sessions allowed attendees to engage directly with the expert resource person, clarify doubts, and learn through real-life scenarios. The session on the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and its implications for Sri Lanka was especially well-received, given its relevance to easing business operations and improving trade efficiency.

At the conclusion of the program, participants received certificates of participation, marking their commitment to strengthening their knowledge in global trade practices.
